eMerge 2017; tech opportunitie south florida

10-14 june 2017
Miami

Holland Paviljoen eMerge 2016

Do you still believe Florida is predominantly home of the golden girls? Think again. Florida and especially Miami is booming. For example, the region has the highest start up density of the US (Kaufmann index).

Why Miami?

The unique geographic proximity made over 1100 large brands move their Latin American headquarter to Florida. Companies like AIG, American Airlines, Cisco, Disney, Exxon, Kraft Foods, Microsoft, Oracle, SBC Communications, Sony, Visa International and Wal-Mart, represent a cumulative revenue of 221 billion dollar (2009). And this number is growing!

Where creativity meets money

With events like Winter Music conference, Ultra, Art Basel and Coconut Grove Art Festival, the creative industry is added to the innovation recipe. The unique combination of high end brands and creativity has resulted in a unique tech scene. Great example is Florida based virtual reality start up Magic Leap which received half a billion funding from Google. But also Citrix and Terremark are located here.

Florida loves Holland

Over the recent years the Miami and Dutch business community have created strong ties. Miami’s Terremark has located one of it’s top-tier Network Access Point (NAP) data centers in Amsterdam. Heineken helped launch the “Save Your Seat” crowdfunding campaign to restore the legendary Miami Marine Stadium. KLM has reinstated it’s direct flights from Amsterdam to Miami.

Holland Pavilion – Lead generation – Networking

Thanks to some great sponsors and the support of the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Miami Dutch companies get the chance to discover their own business opportunities in Miami at the Holland Pavilion during eMerge. eMerge promotes the Europe-US-Latin America triangle to do business. Lead generation and networking will be actively supported. Startups that are looking for investments can be nominated for the pitch event (minimum of 175000 dollar is available in 3 categories).

No hablo español

Don’t worry if you don’t speak Spanish, everybody speaks English. It’s exactly why businesses choose Florida as their Latin hub. The Florida business community benefits from the presence of 5 million highly educated multi cultural & multi-linguistic people that create the cultural and trade bridge between the Americas.(source: Cencus)
